Bfit Program - Shriners Children’s New England

The 2024 Melha First Lady’s project will directly support the BFit Program, located at Shriners Children’s

New England in Springfield.

BFit is a program designed for Shriners Children’s patients 5 years of age and older with neuromuscular conditions, such as cerebral palsy. BFit is a collaboration between the rehabilitation department at Shriners Children’s New England and the Springfield College Physical Therapy Department’s Integrated Clinical Experience Program. Springfield College students studying Physical Therapy become the coaches for our Shriners patients. The student-coaches monitor and encourage the participants through a series of exercises, which are set up similar to circuit-training. The program is designed to encourage our patients to try new things and challenge themselves beyond the boundaries of a traditional therapy session. As both a Springfield College alumna and an educator, the BFit program spoke directly to my heart.

If you wish to make a donation to the BFit program, you may do so by check or money order, payable to Shriners Children’s New England. Please make note in the memo line: 2024 Melha First Lady’s Project. Donations may be sent directly to:
